Jason Hammel, Chicago Cubs agree to a $20-million, two-year deal

Right-hander Jason Hammel has agreed to a $20-million, two-year contract to return to the Chicago Cubs, a person familiar with the negotiations told the Associated Press.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreement had not yet been announced. Hammel’s deal includes a $12-million club option for 2017 with a $2-million buyout. If the option is exercised, the contract would be worth $30 million for three seasons.
Hammel, 32, was 8-5 with a 2.98 earned-run average in 17 starts for the Cubs before being traded to Oakland in July with pitcher Jeff Samardzija. He was 2-6 with a 4.26 ERA for the Athletics.
White Sox to sign David Robertson
A person familiar with the negotiations said that closer David Robertson and the Chicago White Sox have agreed to a four-year contract.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreement had not been announced.
Robertson had 39 saves for the New York Yankees last season.
Yasmany Tomas and Diamondbacks finalize contract
Cuban outfielder Yasmany Tomas and the Arizona Diamondbacks finalized a $68.5-million, six-year contract.
The club said the contract was signed Sunday in the Dominican Republic.
Tomas, 24, hit .375 for Cuba with two home runs and five RBIs in last year’s World Baseball Classic. The Diamondbacks may shift him to third base.
Pirates claim Josh Lindblom off waivers
The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed pitcher Josh Lindblom off waivers from Oakland and added former major league manager Grady Little and former infielder Kevin Young to the front office.
Lindblom, 27, is 5-8 with a 3.82 ERA in 110 games with four teams. He made one appearance for Oakland in 2014, spending most of the season at triple-A Sacramento.
Little, who managed the Boston Red Sox in 2002 and 2003, and the Dodgers in 2006 and 2007, will serve as a senior adviser to General Manager Neal Huntington.
Young will serve as a special assistant with the Pirates. He played 11 of his 12 big league seasons in Pittsburgh and was a career .258 hitter.
White Sox claim Rob Brantly off waivers
The Chicago White Sox claimed catcher Rob Brantly off waivers from the Miami Marlins.
Brantly appeared in 98 games with the Marlins in 2012 and 2013, batting .235 with four home runs and 26 RBIs. He hit .255 with four home runs and 37 RBIs in 101 games at triple-A New Orleans last season.
