Quadruple bogey doesn’t sink Shawn Stefani at St. Jude Classic

Not too many times do you see a PGA Tour player make quadruple bogey ... and move into the lead.
But that’s what happened at the St. Jude Classic on Saturday in Memphis, where Shawn Stefani sits atop the leaderboard at 12 under par after the third round.
He reached that lofty spot after getting into serious trouble on No. 11, including a bunker shot that rolled back to his feet and a triple-bogey putt that skittered past the hole.
“It just happens,” Stefani said.
The Texan responded with four birdies in the final five holes, giving him a four-under 66 for the day.
Harris English, the leader through 36 holes, sits one stroke back and Phil Mickelson, who started the day with a bogey, made a charge to wind up at seven under heading into Sunday’s final round at TPC Southwind.
