Dispersal draft for Chivas USA players set for Nov. 19

Major League Soccer has chosen Nov. 19 as the date for its dispersal draft of players who belonged to Chivas USA when the team was disbanded after its final regular-season game last month.
The draft will be conducted via a teleconference call with the league’s remaining 20 teams. The draft order will be determined through a weighted draw on Nov. 14.
Teams that qualified for this fall’s MLS playoffs will receive one envelope while non-playoff teams -- including expansion franchises in Orlando and New York -- will get two.
The dispersal draft has to be conducted before Dec. 1, the date for any contract options to be exercised. Also looming is the Dec. 10 expansion draft for the two new teams.
MLS clubs choosing players in the dispersal process must assume the players’ full 2015 budget charges and any existing options must by exercised.
Chivas USA’s two homegrown players, Caleb Calvert and Marco Delgado, are both eligible to be selected but star striker Erick “Cubo” Torres -- the most attractive player on the Chivas roster -- will not be.
MLS is still in the process of negotiating a long-term contract to keep Torres, who played the last two seasons here on loan from Chivas of Guadalajara.
