NASCAR said Tuesday it reinstated Todd Parrott after the veteran crew chief completed its substance-abuse recovery program.
Parrott, 49, was suspended indefinitely nearly three months ago for violating NASCAR’s substance-abuse policy. The substance at issue in his case was not identified.
With 19 years in the Sprint Cup series, Parrott last year was crew chief for driver Aric Almirola of Richard Petty Motorsports, who drives the No. 43 car that Petty made famous, before Parrott was suspended.
Parrott earlier was the crew chief for Dale Jarrett when the driver won the 1996 Daytona 500 and, three years later, when Jarrett won the series championship.
