USC football: Tre Madden does his part for offense

Former Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Allen led USC onto the field Saturday night before the Trojans’ game against Washington State, and sophomore Tre Madden followed with an outstanding performance despite his team’s 10-7 loss.
Madden rushed for 151 yards in 32 carries, including several key gains after taking direct snaps in the wildcat formation.
“When I got the ball, I just ran as hard as I could,” he said. “It feels bad because we lost so all stats don’t mean anything to me.”
It was the second consecutive 100-yard effort for Madden, who gained 109 yards in the season opener against Hawaii.
USC produced only 193 yards of offense against Washington State as quarterbacks Cody Kessler and Max Wittek each played a half.
“The offense as a whole, we need to come together,” Madden said. “We didn’t really have any sync or consistency with either quarterback, and that falls on everybody.”
