New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia will start Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins one day after a video of the once dominant left-hander getting involved in an argument before a street brawl in Toronto.
On Friday, after the Yankees’ 4-3 victory over the Blue Jays, Sabathia got into an argument outside a nightclub when a some hecklers got a little too personal with the 6-foot-7, 285-pounder.
“I just flipped out, you know. I could have handled it better,” Sabathia said before Monday’s game, according to the Associated Press.
TMZ published a video of the incident in which Sabathia can be seen yelling and getting pushed into a cab by two men as a few others come to blows on the street.
“Made a bad decision. Sometimes these things happen,” he said.
Sabathia (4-9) was scheduled to start against the Twins on Monday, but the Yankees and Sabathia both said the decision to push his start back a day had been decided before the incident came to light.
Bryan Mitchell (0-1), who made the start in place of Sabathia, was hit in the face by a line drive during the second inning and suffered a fractured nasal cavity.
