Reader recommendation: When in Rio de Janeiro, use private tour guide Manoel Bezerra

Six of us recently returned from Rio de Janeiro, where we thoroughly enjoyed the private tours of Manoel Bezerra. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating and spoke impeccable English. We were able to arrange everything before we left by Internet and phone. Manoel purchased tickets for tourist sites in advance, which saved us waiting in line. He also had helpful suggestions, such as reserving a suitable car online from the U.S. using international rates because it was much cheaper than renting once in Rio. We added Manoel as an “extra driver” and saved a lot of money.
