Celebrate Fourth of July at Tahoe

Lights on the Lake: Lake Tahoe’s annual Fourth of July hoopla ranks in the Top 5 of national fireworks displays, according to the American Pyrotechnics Assn. Fireworks, which will be set to music and fired from a barge on the lake, start at about 8:45 p.m. and last for 30 minutes.
When, where: On water, paddle-wheelers M.S. Dixie II and Tahoe Queen are prime viewing spots. On land, a good spot is Nevada Beach State Park, two miles east of Nevada casinos on Elk Point Road.
Admission: Free if you go to the beach. $175 per person aboard the paddle-wheelers; price includes dinner and live music.
