Virgin America sale: $149 each way from Los Angeles to East Coast

Missed out on a spring getaway? Virgin America has started a three-day sale on fares for flights in May. Prices are low, particularly $149 plus tax each way for flights to New York and other East Coast destinations from Los Angeles. But act quickly if you want a seat -- the sale ends Wednesday.
The deal: The May Is the New July sale offers the lowest airfares for flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Sample fares from L.A. one way (excluding tax): $59 to San Francisco, $69 to Seattle, $99 to Dallas/Fort Worth and $149 to Boston, New York, Washington, D.C.; Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Seven-day advance purchase is required.
When: You must purchase by 11:59 PDT Wednesday for travel from May 1 to 30, excluding May 27 and 30.
Tested: I checked online and found availability for a round-trip flight from L.A. to Dallas/Fort Worth for the $99 sale rate from May 10 to 17. I also had the option of returning on other days for the slightly higher rate of $109. (Prices don’t include tax.)
