San Francisco: 100th birthday for the Galleria Park means a second night at less than $20

The Galleria Park in San Francisco marks its 100th year by giving guests a discounted room rate equivalent to the year they were born. Stay two or more nights and the last night costs under $20. The older you are, the lower the rate.

The deal: The Centennial Package requires at least a two-night stay and discounts the final night to $19 and change (i.e., $19.80 if you were born in 1980). The deal is good for stays Thursdays-Sundays only.

The Galleria Park opened its doors in 1911 as the Sutter Hotel at Sutter and Kearny streets. In 2007, the hotel and its 177 rooms were renovated by Joie de Vivre Hotels, which operates the site, in keeping with the distinctive Art Nouveau design. Amenities at the hotel include access to a rooftop garden and jogging track and a free Golden Gate Greeter volunteer-led tour of the city.

When: The offer is good through the end of the year, based on availability.

Tested: The Centennial Package can be reserved by phone only (though you can read up on the fine points of the deal at the hotel’s website). I called to ask about a two-night stay starting May 6, but there was no availability. I switched my dates to May 7 and 8 (Saturday and Sunday) and found a room with queen-sized bed for $299 for the first night and less than $20 for the second night; prices don’t include tax. One other note: You can use this deal as many times as you like throughout the year.
