Israeli airstrike in Gaza kills Palestinian militant

Reporting from Gaza City — A Palestinian was killed Wednesday when the Israeli air force targeted a man on a motorbike in the northern Gaza Strip who Israeli authorities said was a militant preparing terrorist attacks.
Local sources in Gaza said the man was a 25-year-old member of a small militant group affiliated with Al Qaeda. Health officials said two others were wounded in the attack, including an 8-year-old boy.
Earlier Wednesday, Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket at southern Israel, causing damage to a main road but no injuries, Israeli authorities said.
It was not immediately clear what Palestinian group fired the rocket. Israeli officials said Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas bore responsibility because of his recent reconciliation with Hamas, the militant group that forcibly took power in Gaza in 2007.
Abbas, meanwhile, called on militants in Gaza to not fire rockets at Israel.
