Thirty-four Los Angeles firefighters, including seven women, participated in graduation ceremonies culminating ten weeks of training. Women now account for 11 of Los Angeles’ 2,700 firefighters. The new graduates will begin a yearlong probationary period at the end of which they will be required to pass an exam to become full-fledged officers.
