A 13-year-old boy riding a motorized jet ski was killed by a water skier’s tow line as the boy cut behind a power boat, police said. Christopher Tachman of Los Angeles was riding the jet ski when he crossed the path of the water skier near the mouth of the Los Angeles River. The boy ran into the ski rope and was decapitated, police said. Investigators said it was the first time the boy had ridden a jet ski, a scooter-type vehicle with a motor in the front and a platform to stand on.
