The American Civil Liberties Union filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court for a hearing on its request for an injunction to prevent the City of Los Angeles from using the police battering ram. The ACLU filed suit against the city in February after the armored vehicle was used to smash into a Pacoima home suspected of being a “rock house,” a fortified drug-dealing center. The suit was transferred to federal court, but U.S. District Judge A. Wallace Tashima said injunction claims would have to be handled by the state court, prompting the ACLU to seek the hearing for June 10.
