A young man who was released last summer after serving time for robbery was arrested on suspicion of having murdered an ex-girlfriend he said he blamed for his conviction. Allen Andrews, 18, was arrested after his mother called police when she heard news reports of the fatal stabbing of West Los Angeles College freshman Karen Spencer, 19. Police said Andrews subsequently told them he had planned to murder Spencer, whom he had once dated, while serving a robbery sentence at the California Youth Authority. “He said he always felt she was responsible (for his jail term),” Detective Art Hotchkiss said. “He made up his mind he was going to kill her when he got out and, first chance he got, he did.”
