Voss Wins PBA Event at Riverside, Is Second Double-Winner of Year

RIVERSIDE — Brian Voss of Tacoma, Wash., became the second double-winner on the Professional Bowlers Assn. tour this year Wednesday by taking the Southern California PBA Open.

Voss, seeded No. 1 for the championship round, defeated Amleto Monacelli of Venezuela, 245-219, in the championship final for his fourth career title.

Randy Pedersen of Santa Maria was the tour’s first two-time winner of 1987.

In the final at Town Square Lanes, Voss and Monacelli were tied through six frames of the title match before Monacelli left a 3-6-9-10 that he failed to convert. The miss gave Voss a lead he never gave up.
