Local News in Brief : Laguna Beach : School Support Group Seeks to Raise $100,000

Schoolpower, the private support group for Laguna Beach Unified School District, seeks to raise $100,000 at an auction and dance Saturday, spokeswoman Gay Pivaroff said.

This year’s dance will be at the Le Meridien Hotel in Newport Beach. Pivaroff said the auction will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a dinner and dance in the main ballroom.

Dinner-dance tickets are $500 per couple. Reservations may be made by calling the Schoolpower office at (714) 494-6811.

Schoolpower provides funds for school programs and equipment that cannot be met by existing tax revenue. The organization also sponsors another fund-raising event, the annual Laguna Beach 10-kilometer Classic race, held in April.
