Divers from the Sheriff’s Department Harbor Patrol on Tuesday recovered a body of an unidentified man from the ocean floor off Seal Beach.
Authorities said the fully clothed body was discovered about 11 a.m. by the skipper of a private sailboat less than a mile offshore from the entrance to Anaheim Bay. The U.S. Coast Guard and the Harbor Patrol in Newport Harbor were notified.
Divers pulled the body from 36 feet of water, a Seal Beach police spokeswoman said. The man was described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, clad in a denim jacket, jeans and cowboy boots.
The police spokeswoman said authorities so far have not been able to identify the man, and the cause of death has not been determined pending an autopsy.
