Local News in Brief : Freeway Crash Kills Man Putting Gas in Car

A North Hollywood man who was putting gas into his car on the shoulder of the San Diego Freeway near Mulholland Drive was struck and killed Sunday by a car driven by a teen-ager under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officers arrested the 18-year-old driver on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after the accident, which occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m., said CHP Officer Diane Lowery.
The teen-ager, whose name was withheld, suffered major injuries and was taken to UCLA Medical Center, Lowery said.
The identity of the 34-year-old victim was withheld until his family could be notified.
