Chula Vista Woman Killed in 2-Car Crash; Man Arrested

A 29-year-old woman was killed in Chula Vista when the car in which she was a passenger was hit broadside by another car being driven a man who was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, police reported Saturday.
A Chula Vista police spokeswoman identified the victim as Helen Beveridge of Chula Vista.
Witnesses told police that Beveridge and her boyfriend, who was the driver, were headed east on I Street about 10:45 p.m. Friday when another car ran the red light at 4th Avenue and struck the passenger side of their car. Beveridge was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her boyfriend, who was not identified, was flown by Life Flight helicopter to UCSD Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
The other driver, identified as Jose Roque Solis, 31, of Chula Vista, was taken for treatment of injuries to UCSD Medical Center, where he was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter. He is being held at the jail ward of the hospital.
