A man burst into a couple’s home Thursday night, fired one warning shot and left with $200, only to be caught by police, authorities said.
Robin Vossler, 25, and Mark Alvin Davidson, 31, were in their home in the 500 block of Bernard Street at about 8:40 p.m. when a man forced his way inside and fired one round from a 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol, Police Lt. Dennis Cost said.
The couple, who were not injured, gave the robber two $100 bills, Cost said. As the robber fled the home, one of the victims called police.
An officer patrolling the area saw a man leaving the house and chased him to the 2000 block of Charle Street. Police sealed off the area, then used an infrared device in a helicopter to find Michael Ray Peak hiding underneath a car, police said. Peak was carrying two $100 bills, police said. Police later found in a nearby back yard a pistol they believe was used in the robbery, Cost said.
Peak, 31, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and was being held in Costa Mesa Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
