The City Council has ordered a two-year contract drawn up for a Santa Monica attorney to help in a planned crackdown on business license, animal, zoning and other code violators.
The attorney, Jonathan S. Horne, will be guaranteed 15 to 20 hours a week at a rate of $110 an hour for the first 10 hours of work and $100 an hour thereafter. The contract will cost an estimated $100,000 annually.
Horne, who has worked in code enforcement in Santa Monica, will be part of the team of four code enforcement officers and a fire inspector. He will assist in interpreting codes, identifying possible violators and seeking correction of the violations.
