Servite Stops Alemany, 24-6

Alemany High’s meeting with Servite in a nonleague game on Friday figured to be an aerial showdown between two top quarterbacks, Alemany’s Joey Rosselli and Servite’s Rob Walker.
Walker was ranked third in the state, having passed for 1,164 yards; Rosselli is the Valley’s leading passer with 1,105 yards.
Instead, it was Servite’s dominant rushing game that took center stage and provided the Friars with an easy 24-6 win at Alemany.
Servite (2-4) went to its rushing game because of a wet field.
Senior running back Kent Weiss shouldered the bulk of Servite’s offense, gaining 145 yards in 16 carries and scoring two touchdowns. He scored on a second-quarter run from one yard to give Servite a 7-0 lead, and his 59-yard dash in the fourth quarter gave the Friars their final margin of victory.
Alemany (3-3) had 183 yards in total offense. Rosselli completed seven of 16 passes for 98 yards. The Indians’ only score came on an eight-yard pass play from Rosselli to Billy Markowitz with 23 seconds left in the half, but the conversion kick failed.
Walker completed five of nine passes for 103 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown pass to Mike Kroll.
