It’s a Twin Bill at Citizen Bee

Judges at Saturday’s regional finals of the Citizen Bee competition in Anaheim must have thought they were seeing double when Bernd and Dierk Meierbachtol stepped up to bat.
The twins, 12th-graders at Gompers Secondary School, had both gained local victories in San Diego on their knowledge of economics, American history, government and geography.
Dierk placed third in the regional bee, winning $200 and the chance to compete in the state finals April 28 at USC. He bested 29 other Southern California contestants.
Bernd had to be content with the $50 award he earned for making it to the regionals.
The 17-year-olds, sons of Joan and William Ogelsby, and their friend, Eric Lotze, 18, represented Gompers at the regional competition.
