Vereen to Pay Up: Ben Vereen was ordered by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to pay $7,500 to a female acquaintance who accused him for breaking into her home and assaulting her. Superior Court Judge Pro Tem Robert Zakon also ordered Vereen and the woman, Christine Rich, to stay at least 100 yards apart. Under terms of a court agreement, Rich agreed to return Vereen’s recordings by big band leader Les Brown. Vereen, who won a Tony Award for “Pippin,” also appeared in the movie “All That Jazz” and the “Roots” miniseries.
