CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Injured Woman Awarded $150,000

A jury has awarded $150,000 in damages to a woman injured by a bomb concealed in a flower bouquet, but refused to find that a man convicted of the bombing acted with malice. As a result, businessman Peter Pilaski, now serving a 10-year federal prison sentence for the bombing, does not have to pay punitive damages to Pamela Castro, who suffered burns in the November, 1986, explosion. Castro’s lawyer said he would seek a new trial on that issue.
