Top Accounting Firm May Tap Californian: A San Franciscan is likely to become the next chairman of KPMG Peat Marwick, the world’s largest accounting firm, the New York Times reported. The New York company’s board voted over the weekend to nominate Jon C. Madonna, who heads the San Francisco region, to the chairman’s post, the Times quoted an unidentified director as saying. The nomination gives Madonna the inside track to succeed Larry D. Horner, who steps down in October.
