Beacon House, a longtime San Pedro drug and rehabilitation facility, has been officially recognized as this year’s finest community-based program in the South Bay by the local office of the state Department of Rehabilitation.
The award to Beacon House, founded in 1974, was presented last week at the opening of the department’s newest branch office, at 451 E. Carson Plaza Drive in Carson. The award praises the 100-bed facility for its rehabilitation program, which includes help in staying sober and drug-free, education and vocational training.
Beacon House is one of more than 200 community-based programs monitored by the state department’s local office.
