A 39-year-old Los Angeles man was fatally wounded during an apparent robbery attempt at a parking lot of the McDonnell Douglas plant in the Harbor Gateway area, Los Angeles police reported.
The victim, identified as Alfred Dean Corbin, was shot about 2:40 p.m. Monday after he was approached in the company parking lot in the 1400 block of 190th Street by three suspects who later fled in a white compact car.
Corbin was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he died.
A company spokesman said Corbin worked as a metal bonder. Records indicated that he was first employed by the company in 1971, but it was not known if he had worked for the firm continuously, the spokesman said.
Police, who are investigating, declined further comment on the killing.
