Police Arrest 6 on Prostitution Charges

Six people were arrested in a crackdown on prostitutes who advertise in sexually explicit magazines, Los Angeles police said Friday.

They were arrested Thursday at three locations on suspicion of either prostitution or pandering.

Police selected personal advertisements from a variety of sexually oriented publications and made appointments to see the individuals who placed them, Lt. Al Corella said.

At one location, a house in the 4200 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, undercover vice officers arrested Susan Diane Kramer, 25, on suspicion of arranging sex for pay between customers and employees.

Corella said records found at the house indicated that Kramer derived her income from several prostitutes working out of the house. Kandi Ann Lastufka, 22, was arrested at the house on suspicion of prostitution.

Police also seized $1,100 at the house, Corella said.

At a residence in the 4800 block of Bellflower Avenue, officers arrested Michael Ortiz, 32, and Jeffrey Wise, 40, on suspicion of prostitution. Alexis E. Delpozo, 32, was arrested at a residence in the 4700 block of Whitsett Avenue on suspicion of maintaining a house of prostitution. Officers also arrested Stephanie Elizabeth Barkefelt, 29, at the same address on suspicion of prostitution. Cash totaling $1,300 was seized at that residence, Corella said.
