Marine Drowns During Training at Quantico

QUANTICO, Va. — A Marine drowned Saturday while participating in swim qualification training at Quantico Marine Base, the service said.
A statement from the Marines said 2nd Lt. Anthony L. Marchinda, 24, of Troy, Mich., was swimming underwater with other members of his training company shortly before he was spotted lying face down on the bottom of the pool. An autopsy was planned as part of an investigation into the incident, officials said.
