Agran Arrested as Protester at Debate

NEW YORK — Two minor presidential candidates who were denied a chance to participate in Tuesday night’s Democratic debate staged protests at the Bronx forum, and one of them was arrested.
Democrat Larry Agran, the former mayor of Irvine, Calif., was ushered from the Lehman College auditorium and arrested after he called out repeatedly: “I request respectfully to be included in tonight’s debate.”
Agran and another heckler, Arthur Goldstein, 62, of Great Neck, were charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and trespassing, said Kim Royster, a police spokeswoman. Both had passes to attend the debate.
New Alliance Party candidate Lenora B. Fulani was turned away at the door because she arrived late, police said.
