The 69-year-old owner and manager of a Van Nuys apartment building surrendered to police after fatally shooting a 67-year-old tenant, investigators said Wednesday.
Paul Davis was being held without bail on suspicion of murder following the shooting at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the manager’s office at the building in the 15600 block of Leadwell Street, Detective Phil Morritt said. The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of her family.
Morritt said Davis and the victim had had a long-running dispute but declined to discuss what it was about.
He said that it escalated into an argument inside Davis’ office at the 15-unit complex and that Davis shot her several times. Davis then called police.
Officers found the woman dead on the floor of the office.
Davis was expected to be arraigned today in Van Nuys Municipal Court, Morritt said.
