COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Leach Leads USC to Tennis Victory Over UC Irvine

Jon Leach, a former standout at Laguna Beach High, defeated Fred Bach, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4 singles as USC, ranked sixth, shut out UC Irvine, 6-0, in a nonconference men’s tennis match Wednesday at USC.

Brian MacPhie defeated Brett Hansen-Dent, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 singles as the Trojans (15-1) dropped only one set.

USC is 26-3 against the Anteaters. UC Irvine is 9-9.

In nonconference baseball:

Christ College Irvine 4, Claremont 0--Armando Oliveras had two hits, including a double and two RBIs, and Gary Sussman allowed three hits in 7 1/3 innings for CCI (21-8).
