A passerby found a dead man Monday in a vacant lot behind a restaurant in Lancaster, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Deputies initially said the man, whose identity was not determined, died of gunshot wounds but later said the cause of death was unknown pending an autopsy.
The body was discovered about 8:30 a.m. behind the Buffalo Club in the 44000 block of Division Street.
The man was described as white, 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He had brown hair, wore Levi’s and a T-shirt, and his right leg was in a cast, according to Deputy Ron Weber.
