Wisconsin Board Buys Interest in Newhall Land

The State of Wisconsin Investment Board has acquired a 5.7% interest in Newhall Land & Farming Co., a Valencia-based real estate development and agricultural concern.
The board, which manages trust funds held for the Wisconsin Retirement System, said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it purchased 2.1 million Newhall shares for investment purposes.
The total amount paid for the shares was not disclosed but, at Newhall’s recent trading price of $16.50 a share, the stock has an indicated value of $34.7 million.
