Penguin Flap: An animal rights organization said it plans to protest “Batman Returns,” claiming the penguins used in the film should have been left in Antarctica, not imported in cages to Hollywood. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said Monday it does not believe any of the three dozen aquatic birds were mistreated during filming of the sequel. The group does object, however, to the animals being forced into a highly unusual environment and fitted into such gadgets as rockets, helmets and shields. A press release from the studio says the penguins’ headgear was “very lightweight plastic.”
