ROUNDUP : Eshelman Nets the Only Goal CLU Needs, 1-0

Dave Eshelman scored his first goal of the season on a first-half penalty kick to give Cal Lutheran a 1-0 win over visiting Claremont-Mudd in a soccer match between the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leaders.
Eshelman was awarded the penalty kick after a foul by Claremont goalie Tyler Snow. It was only the second goal of Eshelman’s career.
Josh Green made four saves to record his sixth shutout of the season as the Kingsmen (10-3-2, 7-0 in SCIAC play) increased their unbeaten streak to seven.
The Stags fell to 11-2-1, 6-1.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Cal Lutheran 3, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 2--The Regals virtually assured themselves of the SCIAC title with the victory at Claremont.
Cal Lutheran (13-3, 9-0) has a two-match lead over second-place Claremont (8-5, 6-2) with three conference matches to play.
Cal Lutheran has won 10 consecutive matches.
COLLEGE CROSS-COUNTRY
Santa Barbara invitational--Ventura College’s Jorge Barajas placed fifth and Roman Morales was ninth to guide the Pirates to the team title. Ventura scored 103 points to edge Antelope Valley (126) and Long Beach (128).
