Ross Perot’s Campaign
The Op-Ed column (Oct. 14) by (Clinton supporter) Alan Dershowitz and (Bush supporter) Charles Fried tries to convince us not to “waste our vote” on Perot.
In reality, the article merely serves to convince us that the sole criteria for our decision should be to vote our conscience and convictions, not whether Perot is playing by the rules, or threatens the other two parties, or that professional pundits predict that he “can’t win.”
Dershowitz and Fried defeat their own argument by saying that voters must discharge their duty by “voting as if the outcome depended upon his or her vote alone.” If all voters would do this, Perot could win. Isn’t that really what’s bothering these guys?
