Workman Student to Attend Conference

Erwin Afre of La Puente, a student at Workman High School, has been selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference Dec. 1-6 in Washington. He will be among 350 outstanding high school students nationwide to attend the conference sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council.
During the conference, students will meet with leaders and newsmakers from the three branches of government, the media and the diplomatic corps. Highlight of the conference will be a mock congress on gun control during which students assume the roles of U.S. representatives by debating, lobbying and voting on proposed handgun legislation.
