SAN DIEGO : Guilty Plea Entered in Wounding of Girl
- Share via
On the day a jury was expecting to hear opening arguments in his trial, a San Diego man pleaded guilty Tuesday to assaulting a 7-year-old girl because she is Latino.
Clark (Pete) Hill, 25, pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and to allegations that shooting the victim with a BB gun was motivated by hate and caused great bodily injury.
The BB that Hill fired last spring--after he told witnesses “I’m going to shoot that Mexican”--lodged in the child’s back and was removed only last month.
Hill faces a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison when he appears before Superior Court Judge William Mudd on Jan. 11. However, the judge indicated that he will strongly consider ordering the defendant to serve a lengthy period of time on probation.
