From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Two ducks that had been stabbed with bamboo shafts were rescued from Webb Lake in Rancho Bernardo and appear to be recovering well, wildlife rescuers said. The wounded white duck and mallard were discovered by residents who went to feed them. When the ducks came close, they could see that a bamboo shaft, probably a barbecue skewer, was buried in the back of the white duck and that the mallard had been shot through the neck with a similar shaft. The skewers were removed at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Ramona.
