Suspect in Bank Robbery Arrested

An Oxnard man was arrested on suspicion of bank robbery Tuesday after trying to flee from a crowd of people who followed him as he allegedly tried to make his get-away.
Richard Roy Bombele, 27, entered the Security Pacific Bank at 455 South A St. about noon, handed a teller a note that said he had a gun and wanted cash, and fled after being given an undisclosed amount of money, said Special Agent Larry Dick of the FBI’s Ventura office.
Realizing that witnesses from the bank were following him as he tried to flee on foot, Bombele tried to hide under a parked car, Dick said, but was flushed out by the approaching witnesses and again tried to get away on foot.
Bombele then stopped a pickup truck that was at a red light on northbound Oxnard Boulevard, opened the driver’s side door and forced his way into the truck’s cab, Dick said.
Oxnard police arrived as the driver was resisting, and arrested Bombele, who was not armed.
