ENCINO : Transplant Fund Center Dedicated
- Share via
The World Children’s Transplant Fund on Wednesday dedicated its first permanent home in an Encino office building.
The organization helps establish organ transplant programs in poor countries and already operates centers in Argentina, Costa Rica and Russia. Founder Mark Kroeker, who is a Los Angeles Police Department deputy chief, said the organization plans to open new centers soon in Mexico, Brazil and Colombia.
“This will be our world headquarters,” Kroeker said of the small office at 16000 Ventura Blvd.
The organization does not pay outright for organ transplants but instead invests money in new equipment and training for doctors in countries that otherwise would not have transplant programs.
