Paramount : School Superintendent Gets Contract Extension
- Share via
The Paramount school board has extended Supt. Michele Lawrence’s two-year contract until 1997.
The board unanimously approved the change April 13 after an evaluation and a vote in closed session earlier this month. Lawrence was hired as superintendent in July.
Had Lawrence’s two-year contract expired in June, 1994, she might have been evaluated in April by new board members. Three board members, including President Janet Miller, are up for reelection in November.
“The majority of us wanted to give her enough time so a new board coming in in November wouldn’t have to renew a contract after only a few months,” said board member Shirley Elliott.
The contract change will not increase Lawrence’s $94,480 annual salary.
