LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Detailed Report Ordered on Magic Mountain Melees
- Share via
The Board of Supervisors this week asked its staff and the Sheriff’s Department for a detailed report on last weekend’s mayhem at Magic Mountain, and may ask for compensation from the park for costs incurred.
Supervisor Ed Edelman said such a report might help establish procedures for asking entertainment venues for compensation if authorities are called in to quell violence, as they did at the Valencia theme park. Edelman, however, said he was not sure whether the county could legally bill Magic Mountain for the time of the more than 450 deputies who responded.
Hundreds of rowdy youths who were unable to attend two sold-out rap concerts rampaged through the park and nearby businesses Saturday in two waves of violence, first in the afternoon and again at night, leading to dozens of minor injuries and three arrests.
