Glendale Community College could expect a slight boost in funds for scholarships and supplies after a fund-raising drive netted $1 million in donations and federal grant money, officials said.
The drive benefits from a U. S. Department of Education program that provides matching grants of up to $500,000, officials said.
“I’m real excited,” said Ann Ransford, executive director of the Glendale College Foundation. The 10-year-old foundation organized the 1 1/2-year campaign. “It gives us some discretionary funding. . . . I’m real appreciative of the community.”
The deadline to become eligible for the grant was March 31. By then, foundation members had raised $520,000, which will be matched by the government.
