No Need to Hire Police
There has been a lot of talk concerning the need for more police in Oxnard. I argue that there is no need for more police, if the current police force is used more wisely.
I believe that more than 90% of the police on patrol duty are not engaged in fighting crime; they are busy handing out traffic citations to raise more revenue for the city and county. In effect, they are de facto tax revenue collectors. It is absolutely ludicrous to use highly skilled, well-trained crime fighters to do menial tasks such as handing out traffic citations when there is such an enormous crime problem in Oxnard.
I get mad as hell every time I call the police to report gang activity in my neighborhood and the police are too busy handing out traffic citations to respond quickly.
