A Granada Hills motorist was killed and three other people were injured Thursday when the victim’s car plowed into the rear of another vehicle at a stoplight, police said.
The 70-year-old victim, who police have not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident occurred about 4 p.m. at the intersection of Plummer Street and Woodley Avenue in North Hills, when the victim’s Mercury slammed into the rear of a Chevrolet stopped at a red light, Los Angeles police traffic investigator Lee Holloman said.
The Chevrolet rolled over and landed upright, Holloman said.
The victim’s 32-year-old daughter was treated at Holy Cross Medical Center, where she is in serious condition, a nursing supervisor said.
Two other people were treated at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where they were in fair condition Thursday night, a nursing supervisor said.
An autopsy will determine whether the victim suffered a heart attack before the crash, Holloman said.
