OXNARD : Award Will Focus on Progress in Relations

Individuals, businesses and organizations can be nominated for awards honoring those who have contributed to furthering human relations in Oxnard, with winners to be selected by the city’s Community Relations Commission.
Anyone can nominate a potential recipient by filling out an application, which asks for examples of accomplishments. The deadline for submitting nominations is Oct. 22, officials said. Winners will be recognized at the Oxnard City Council meeting Nov. 16.
A business, individual or organization is eligible if they work or perform community services in Oxnard. For information, call Manny Vega at 385-7454.
The Community Relations Commission was established 31 years ago to promote understanding and respect among racial, religious and ethnic groups. Since then, it has mediated disputes in housing, employment, education and public services.
